ORGANIC-HIGH LIGNAN – A rich source of the essential fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, which is a biologic precursor to omega-3 fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic acid.
Flax is one of the finest sources of Alpha-Linolenic Acid (Omega-3) and Linoleic Acid (Omega-6). These are two essential fatty acids that the body does not produce and must be obtained from the diet. Flax seed oil is also rich in Oleic acid (Omega 9). Research has shown that omega-9 fatty acids, commonly referred to as monounsaturated fatty acids, can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.Omega-9 fatty acids have been shown to increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol and decrease LDL(“bad”) cholesterol.
